UPDATE TO LANCASTER CITY FIRE AT 607 & 609 ROCKLAND STREET
LANCASTER, Pa., June 17, 2020
Lancaster City Bureau of Fire has determined the early afternoon fire on June 16 that caused three injured residents to be transported to local medical facilities as accidental.
The fire originated in a second-floor bathroom at 607 Rockland Street and caused extensive fire damage throughout both buildings. Fire loss to the structures and contents is estimated to be at least $200,000. All occupants of both dwellings were displaced by the fire. The fire origin & cause was jointly investigated by the Lancaster City Fire Marshal Division, Lancaster City Bureau of Police, and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals.
City Firefighters arrived within 3 minutes of dispatch and quickly rescued victims from the third floor and provided immediate emergency medical care with the assistance from Lancaster Emergency Medical Services (LEMSA). Currently, two of the casualties are in critical condition at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and one casualty is in fair condition at Lancaster General Hospital.
Lancaster City Bureau of Fire reminds you to:
• Install smoke alarms on every floor and in every bedroom
• Only 120v AC powered smoke alarms or battery powered smoke alarms equipped with 10-year, non-replaceable, tamperproof batteries are approved for installation in dwellings within Lancaster City.

• Test your smoke alarms frequently; at least once a month is recommended by most alarm manufacturers.
