There was an increase in thefts from motor vehicles between the 1st week of June 2019 and the 1st week of August 2019. A total of (46) thefts from vehicle were reported to Lancaster Bureau of Police during that time frame.
The majority of incidents occurred in the Southwest and Northeast quadrants of the City. The times that the incident occurred varied, but most appeared to happen during the evening/overnight hours.
Detectives in our Property Crimes Unit are working to identify and apprehend any and all suspects involved in these incidents.
Many theft from vehicle suspects will walk along residential streets and try car door handles until they come across an unlocked vehicle. We would remind residents to utilize a few easy crime prevention techniques to help reduce the potential for future thefts from vehicles.
If anyone observes suspicious activity such as people looking into parked vehicles, trying car door handles or forcing entry into a vehicle please contact Police at 717-664-1180 (non-emergency) and 911 for emergencies.
