On July 8, 2021, at approximately 7:03 pm, officers from the Lancaster City Bureau of Police responded to the 1st block of S. Water Street for an assault that occurred earlier. Officer Harry Valverde spoke with the victim, who reported that he was assaulted by a group of six males at about 6:45 pm, near his residence in the 1st block of S. Water Street. The 42 year old male victim sought immediate medical attention and was treated for a fractured arm and other injuries consistent with a physical assault. The victim related that he was outside his residence when he was approached by the suspects, who struck him and knocked him to the ground. The victim related that the suspects then proceeded to kick and strike him, causing the injuries. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
Police initiated an investigation and were able to obtain video footage of six male subjects, who are believed to have been involved in the assault. On July 23, 2021, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police released video surveillance images of these subjects and requested assistance from the public to help identify the suspects. The Lancaster City Police Violent Crime Unit continued the investigation. The Violent Crime Unit received several tips and other useful information, which helped them identify the suspects who were involved in the assault.
As a result of the investigation, Detective Austin Krause filed charges against four juveniles before the Lancaster County Office of Juvenile Probation. The juvenile suspects are all residents of Lancaster City and range in age from 14 years old to 16 years old (names and photos will not be released). Three of the juveniles were charged with Aggravated Assault (F-1) and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault (F-1). One juvenile was charged with Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault (F-1). All four juveniles turned themselves in to the City Police and were released back to the custody of their parents after being processed, pending their appearance in court. The victim from this incident has received medical treatment and is recovering from his injuries.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent.
