On Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 8:07 a.m. officers with the Lancaster City Bureau of Police responded to a home on Third Street for a reported domestic violence incident. Officers were able to remove an adult and several juveniles from the home, while another armed adult barricaded themselves into the home. Officers remained on scene and made numerous attempts to convince the armed adult to exit the home. After the barricaded adult refused to exit, the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was dispatched to the scene to assist.

SERT relieved patrol officers and continued attempts to have the armed adult exit the home on their own. At approximately 11:07 a.m. the adult complied with instructions given by SERT and exited the residence. The adult was taken into custody by SERT without further incident or use of force and transported to the Lancaster City Bureau of Police for charges.

The surrounding roadways have been reopened.
