On Thursday December 1, 2016 at approximately 0323 hrs. Off. Yoder attempted a vehicle stop on a yellow Ford Escape. The reason for the stop was because the registration plate displayed was not assigned to the vehcile. The driver refused to yield to Off. Yoder and initiated a vehicle pursuit. The driver continued west on St. Joseph St., committing additional summary traffic violations.
The driver turned north onto Charles Rd. and then west onto Millersville Pike (Rt. 999). The driver attempted to turn north onto Millersville Rd. (Rt. 741) and failed to negotiate the turn. The vehicle struck a curb and was disabled as a result. The driver and a passenger were detained by Off. Yoder. An open/unsealed 750ml bottle of an alcoholic beverage was found inside the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from the 600 blk. E. Walnut St. and not been discovered by the victim until contacted by Police.
As a result of this incident arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as Jorge Luis Santiago W-H/M/18 1st. blk. Hellers Church Rd. Leola, PA. Santiago was charged with Receiving Stolen Property (F3), Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer (F3), Registration and Certificate of Title Required (S), Stop Signs and Yield Signs (7 counts) (S), Traffic Control Signals (S), Restriction on Alcoholic Beverages (S), Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked (S). The complaint was filed before MDJ Witkonis. As of the time of this release Santiago was awaiting arraignment. Bail information is not yet available.
