BEWARE of SCAM
Recently, the East Lampeter Township Police have received several reports from citizens who have received a phone call from a male who identifies himself as a Sergeant with the "Lancaster County Police". The male then informs the citizen that they failed to appear for jury duty and as a result a fine has been levied against them. In order to avoid immediate incarceration, they must pay the fine.
THIS IS A SCAM, Law Enforcement Officers will never contact a citizen by telephone and demand a payment over the phone or request to meet in person for payment.
