At 11:32 a.m. police were dispatched to Turkey Hill (284 E. Main Street Leola) for a vehicle accident. During the investigation police learned the vehicle was pulled into the parking lot of Turkey Hill so the operator could check his newly installed lights to see if they were operating correctly. The operator got out of the vehicle and requested his girlfriend (passenger) to step on the brake pedal while he checked the front and rear lights. The passenger accidentally stepped on the gas pedal causing the vehicle to accelerate forward striking her boyfriend and crashing into the front of the Turkey Hill store causing damage to the front doors. The struck male reported minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Turkey Hill closed the business until later in the day after repairs were made. No citations were issued.
