A York County woman was sentenced to one and a half to five years in state prison after she pleaded guilty to driving a stolen car containing multiple stolen firearms onto a Strasburg Township residence where she began picking peppers without permission.

Judge Thomas Sponaugle sentenced Kimberly Yvonn Schwartz, of York Township, after she pleaded guilty July 20 to three counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of firearms not to be carried without a license, a single count each of burglary, resisting arrest, agricultural vandalism, false identification to a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance and seven summary offenses.

Schwartz, 36, drove a stolen vehicle containing two stolen guns and began picking the peppers from the garden of a residence in the 900 block of Strasburg Pike in Strasburg Township in August 2025. 

The victim told state troopers Schwartz drove onto their driveway, entered their garage and took a five-gallon bucket which she then used to pick peppers from the victim’s garden. Though the victim told Schwartz she was welcome to buy the peppers, she instead left in her vehicle without paying, she told troopers.

Multiple patrol units began searching for Schwartz after troopers who arrived to investigate the incident quickly determined that the vehicle she was driving had been stolen and was also connected to the thefts of two semi-automatic handguns. 

Troopers were able to locate Schwartz within an hour driving in a Strasburg Township parking lot using a picture of her and her vehicle which the victim had provided them. Schwartz’ license is suspended due to a prior DUI conviction. 

In her initial interactions with troopers Schwartz at first declined to identify herself, though she eventually provided them a fake name. Throughout the interaction Schwartz refused to follow troopers’ orders and was argumentative and combative.

While being arrested Schwartz continued to pull her hands away while being handcuffed, failed to place her feet in the car and had to be assisted in doing so, unbuckled herself multiple times, refused to walk and ultimately was placed in a caged police vehicle due to safety concerns.

Inside the stolen vehicle troopers uncovered a partially consumed bottle of alcohol as well as suspected methamphetamine in Schwartz’ possession. Troopers believe Schwartz was under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance at the time due to her erratic behavior, though she refused a chemical test. 

Stolen firearms were also recovered from inside the vehicle.

First Assistant District Attorney Travis Anderson prosecuted the case.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Erika Boyer filed the charges.
