A jury convicted an East Lampeter Township man of exposing himself to his fiancé’s 20-year-old niece for an incident that occurred in November 2019. The jury deliberated for less than ten minutes before convicting 51-year-old Eugene Franklin Wright of one count of indecent exposure. ADA Fritz Haverstick presented evidence and called witnesses to testify during the one-day jury trial. Testimony revealed that Wright began texting the victim, who was staying at her Aunt’s house, after his fiancé went to bed. The victim was then awoken in the early morning hours to Wright unclothed and masturbating within feet of her.
President Judge David Ashworth, who presided over the trial, will order sentence after a background check is completed in a couple months. After the verdict, Judge Ashworth order that Wright be committed to Lancaster County Prison on $50,000 bail.
Officer Andrew Garman of the East Lampeter Township Police Department filed the charges.
A jury also convicted 33-year-old Brian Jay of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he stood in the middle of East Main Street in Adamstown, Lancaster County, stopping traffic, hitting vehicles, and fighting with law enforcement in June 2019. ADA CJ Restemayer prosecuted the case for the Commonwealth during the two-day trial. Testimony revealed that law enforcement tried to get Jay to safety on the side of the road because a curve in the road and poor weather conditions obstructed the view of oncoming motorists. Jay refused to get out of the middle of the street, lunged at and attempted to bite law enforcement, and engaged in dangerous and erratic behaviors.
Judge Merrill Spahn, who presided over the trial, will sentence Jay after the completion of a pre-sentencing investigation.
Officer Jeremy Adams from Ephrata Police Department filed the charges.
