A repeat DUI offender was recently convicted of driving last year with a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
Leroy Black Jr., 47, was convicted at trial last week in Lancaster County Court of DUI (highest rate of alcohol) and driving under DUI-related suspension.
A local jury deliberated before deciding the case on Nov. 17, following a two-day trial.
Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Chieppor presented evidence that Black’s blood-alcohol level was .169 percent shortly after driving on June 5, 2019. The state's legal limit is .08 percent.
West Hempfield Township police approached Black’s vehicle that night when it turned into the park (after hours) and stopped.
Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro, who presided over the trial, will order sentence at a later date.
West Hempfield Township police Officer Gabriel Rimolo filed charges.
