A Lancaster man was recently convicted of illegally possessing a gun during an incident in the city last year.
Chappell Williams represented himself at trial last week when a local jury convicted him of felony persons not to possess.
Williams, 41, is also charged with a robbery that, police allege, happened on the same day (Feb. 19, 2019) in the 800 block of East Chestnut Street.
The persons not to possess case was tried separately because it involved a jury hearing of Williams’ prior felony conviction which prohibits him from having a gun.
Williams is presumed innocent in the robbery/aggravated assault case.
Assistant District Attorney Christine L. Wilson called three police officers and other witnesses to testify last week.
The jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before deciding the case on Jan. 29.
At the verdict, Lancaster County Judge Thomas Sponaugle raised Bail to $500,000.
Lancaster city police Detective Lt. Nathan Nickel filed charges.
