A pair of Lancaster teenagers are headed to trial on armed-robbery charges regarding two hold-ups of taxi drivers last month in Manheim Township.

Darius A. Richardson, 17, was ordered Tuesday to be tried on numerous felonies after he waived a preliminary hearing at District Judge David Miller’s office.

Richardson was allegedly involved in gunpoint robberies Sept. 14 and 20 on Fountain and Elizabeth avenues respectively.

Richardson is charged as an adult because a deadly weapon (the gun) was involved in both crimes.

Mychael D. Watkins, 19, is headed to trial for the Sept. 20 robbery, following a preliminary hearing earlier this month.

The cab driver in that case identified Watkins as the person who threatened him with a gun.

The investigation continues into both robberies.

Each time, a gun was displayed and the drivers surrendered cash and a cellphone.

Police linked the males to the robberies through cellphone usage.

Assistant District Attorneys Maria Cusick and Erik Neiman were in court Tuesday.

Manheim Township police Detective Scott Dierwechter filed charges.

Both males are presumed innocent.
