Are you owed court-ordered restitution money that you haven’t received? Lancaster County collected $2,416,725.67 in restitution last year, including payments from defendants in state prison.
The Clerk of Courts Office recently mailed a letter with an enclosed debit card to those who are owed restitution with details on getting your payment. The image below shows an example of that debit card. A copy of the mailed letter with more details is attached at the bottom of this release.
Restitution payments are loaded onto a debit card monthly through CourtFunds. These cards are included in the letter sent by the Clerk of Courts Office and should not be thrown away.
You can use your debit card as is, use cash advance to remove the entire balance at any MasterCard principal financial institution, or use your card as debit when making transactions and ask for cash back.
To choose a method of receiving these payments, register at www.courtfunds.com or call 877-287-2448.
Registering for an account will give access to:
- View card balance and transaction history at any time.
- Transfer the funds to a personal bank account.
- Transfer the funds to a PayPal account.
- Buy gift cards at a discounted price.
- Donate the funds to a charity.
- Choose to receive a paper check instead (free of charge).
Have you moved since being a victim of a crime? The Lancaster County Clerk of Courts has received many restitution payments that have been returned by the USPS because of outdated addresses. If you changed your address and haven’t received restitution payments, contact Victim/Witness Services or the Clerk of Courts Office to update.
If neither of these apply to you but you are owed restitution and have not received it, call the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office Victim/Witness Services Unit at 717-299-8048.
