A Manheim Township woman was sentenced to three to six years in state prison after she pleaded guilty to burglarizing multiple homes and vehicles after dark.
Judge Jeffery Conrad sentenced Nicole Abraham-Ortiz, of the 200 block of Derbyshire Drive, after she pleaded guilty July 15 to three counts of burglary, one count of aggravated assault, three counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, a single count of resisting arrest and two counts each of loitering and prowling at nighttime and criminal mischief.
Abraham-Ortiz, 36, broke into the victims’ vehicles and residences in Manheim Township during overnight hours during a two-week span in late February and early March 2025. Several of the offenses occurred within 700 yards of Abraham-Ortiz’s own residence.
Despite some of their proximity to Abraham-Ortiz, Assistant District Attorney Daniel Lingousky, who prosecuted the cases, told the court her victims were “indiscriminate and random.”
“None of them knew her,” Lingousky said.
One of the victims was so disturbed by Abraham-Ortiz’s actions that they left their home and began living in a hotel, Lingousky told the court.
Prior to handing down his sentence Conrad said Abraham-Ortiz had committed “one of the most offensive crimes in our society” by violating the sanctity of the victims’ homes.
Had circumstances been different, Conrad said, Abraham-Ortiz could have been shot and killed.
An attorney representing Abraham-Ortiz told the court that drug use and untreated mental health issues made her act “out of her mind,” making bizarre choices such as, in one instance, breaking into a garage to steal a pair of garden shears.
In one case a victim awoke to discover Abraham-Ortiz had entered their home in the 500 block of Cobblestone Lane overnight as they slept and had stolen more than $8,000 in random items including dinner plates, a coffee maker, a pair of boots, debit cards, a set of car keys, headphones, cameras and other electronics. Interior camera footage depicted Abraham-Ortiz taking items inside the residence for a time before she eventually noticed the camera and stole it as well.
When police searched the residence they found diapers that Abraham-Ortiz had left behind.
Days later, a victim living in the 1500 block of Clearview Avenue was awakened by noises coming from inside the residence and, upon investigating, discovered Abraham-Ortiz prowling in their garage.
When confronted by the victim Abraham-Ortiz attempted to flee in her vehicle, though she was quickly stopped by police. Abraham-Ortiz refused to exit her vehicle and kicked an officer in the chest when they forcibly removed her from the car.
Another victim reported returning home to find that about $25,000 in items including purses, wallets, jewelry, cameras and a set of hearing aids had been stolen from her residence in the 200 block of Elizabeth Drive. In other instances, Abraham-Ortiz entered vehicles parked in the 1100 block of Cobblestone Lane and the 100 block of Haskell Drive, taking key rings, an empty prescription pill bottle and a dog collar ID.
On at least one occasion Abraham-Ortiz pawned an engagement ring belonging to one of the victims.
Manheim Township Police officers Anthony Lombardo and Duane Oleszcuk filed the charges.
