A German man will face charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, and criminal use of a communication facility after waiving his preliminary hearing Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Michael Hess.
Erik Weidling, 21, was charged by the Susquehanna Regional Police Department on March 9 with traveling to the United States from Germany to have sexual contact with a 15-year-old he had met online.
Weidling is alleged to have known the victim and her mother’s schedules and would go to the victim’s residence after her mother went to work.
Weidling stated he had sexual contact with the victim on March 1, March 4, March 5, and March 7.
Weidling obtained his passport on February 9 to travel to the U.S. and intended to return to Germany March 9.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Weidling is scheduled to be arraigned May 10 and remains in Lancaster County Prison on $750,000 bail.
Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick is prosecuting the case.
Susquehanna Regional Police Detective Laurel Bair filed charges.
