A Lancaster Township man charged with attempting to shoot a woman to death at a Columbia Borough intersection will have his case proceed to county court following a preliminary hearing.
Judge Miles Bixler ruled Aug. 17 that the case of Skyler Matthew Barr, of the 1000 block of Grofftown Road, could proceed to the Court of Common Pleas on charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, two felony firearms offenses and three counts of criminal mischief.
Barr, 30, is accused of shooting the victim in the backside when he fired a handgun 11 times at the intersection of South Fourth and Cherry streets in Columbia Borough during the early morning hours of July 4. Barr also struck a nearby occupied home in the 300 block of Cherry Street and three vehicles parked in the area.
The victim told police Barr shot her as she ran away from him shortly before 3:30 a.m.
Police found 11 shell casings at the intersection where the victim was shot. Barr does not have a license to carry a concealed weapon and is not permitted to possess a firearm at all.
Barr remains in Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Columbia Borough Police Cpl. Andrew Snyder filed the charges.
First Deputy Assistant District Attorney Cody Wade represented the Commonwealth during the preliminary hearing.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
