Police Departments across Lancaster County are promoting the “Decide to Ride” initiative to prevent driving under the influence during a holiday.
Anheuser-Busch, MADD, and Uber have again partnered for the initiative, which gives a $15 Uber voucher to riders in central Pennsylvania by scanning a QR code or entering the code “r1Nt9RdFovG” in the app. The offer is good for the first 400 people.
The voucher is good for pickup or drop-off in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties from 3/17/23 at noon until 3/18/23 at noon.
Police Departments distribute flyers at local bars and restaurants in their jurisdictions so bartenders and owners can be proactive in assisting patrons that should get a ride instead of driving home. The campaign was also offered on New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, the Fourth of July, and Memorial Day.
New Year’s Eve’s campaign resulted in the most rides (551) since the program began and the average voucher cost was $12.77. Harrisburg accounted for 247 of the rides, Lancaster 237, and York-Gettysburg 67. Most of the rides (442) were generated before midnight.
If you decide to drink this St. Patrick’s Day, don’t drive. Enter the code or scan the QR to use the $15 voucher. Decide to ride.
