An Elizabethtown woman will serve up to 15 years in prison for dealing fentanyl in Lancaster County.
Abigail Fanus, 34, is also facing felony charges in Dauphin County, regarding a woman’s overdose death there. Fanus is charged with supplying the fatal batch of heroin in that case.
Regarding the Lancaster County cases, Fanus pleaded guilty to felony counts of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, Hydrocodone and Amphetamine in the summer of 2018.
Lancaster County Judge David Ashworth sentenced Fanus to 4½ to 15 years in prison.
At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Barry Goldman presented a letter Fanus wrote from prison to an acquaintance, asking the acquaintance to smuggle Suboxone and/or fentanyl into the prison. Fanus, in the letter, provided instructions on how to infiltrate prison security, according to Goldman.
No charges have been filed regarding the letter.
The Lancaster County Drug Task Force filed charges regarding the drug-dealing.
On Aug. 6, 2018, detectives found Fanus in possession of 99 bags of fentanyl, 35 tablets of amphetamine, 5 tablets of Hydrocodone, paraphernalia, and $248 cash.
Two weeks earlier, Fanus sold fentanyl-laced heroin while under police surveillance.
In Dauphin County, Fanus is charged with drug delivery resulting in death and related counts. A trial is scheduled for this summer.
She is presumed innocent of those charges.
