July 6 Update: Three shooting victims remain hospitalized. A shooting victim and the assault victim were treated and released.

An Ephrata Township man is charged with opening fire at a group of six men – wounding four of the men - Sunday night in Ephrata Township.

The alleged shooter’s father is charged with conspiring in the shooting and providing a rifle used by his son.

Mark A. Ivie Jr., 20, is charged with six counts of attempted homicide, six counts of aggravated assault and six counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

Mark A. Ivie Sr., the father, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault and six counts of conspiracy to commit those crimes. Ivie Sr., 43, also is charged with misdemeanor assault for beating a man from the group (that man was not wounded by gunfire).

Ephrata police Detective Graeme Quinn filed charges Sunday evening, with approval from First Deputy District Attorney Travis S. Anderson.

Both Ivies are presumed innocent.

District Judge Denise Commins arraigned the Ivies Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m.

Ivie Jr.’s bail was set at $1 million. Ivie Sr.’s bail was set at $750,000. Neither posted immediately.

Four men were struck by gunfire, but police filed charges regarding all six men because Ivie Jr. allegedly opened fire into the group – with all six men in close proximity.

The four shooting victims and assault victim were taken to area hospitals.

The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. in the first block of Blackberry Lane, near the Ivies’ home.

Ivie Jr. got into a physical fight with one of the men before obtaining the rifle from his father and opening fire.

Ivie Jr. was acquainted with at least some of the men he opened fire upon. A previous incident led to the altercation on Blackberry Lane.
