An Ephrata man will serve up to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a party last year in East Lampeter Township.
Freedom Dowlin was 19 when he assaulted the girl on May 27, 2017, at a home on Horseshoe Road, Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick told a Lancaster County Judge.
Dowlin, now 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday to four felonies in exchange for a sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison, plus two years of probation.
Dowlin also admitted to being drunk when he, at age 19, caused a vehicle crash that seriously injured a passenger on Jan. 14, 2017, in East Cocalico Township. Dowlin’s blood-alcohol level was .088 percent, Haverstick told the judge.
County Judge Howard Knisely accepted the plea terms and ordered sentence.
Dowlin must register his whereabouts under Megan’s Law for the rest of his life, as part of sentence. He must also pay $3,455 in restitution costs.
East Lampeter Township police Detective Christopher Jones, who filed charges, was present in court.
East Cocalico Township police Officer Eric Fisher filed charges in the DUI case.
