An Elizabethtown man pleaded guilty Monday to felony counts of drug delivery resulting in death and criminal use of a communication facility for delivering fentanyl to a man who fatally overdosed in 2018.
Patrick Halterman, 58 of the 100 block of North Poplar Street, was sentenced to 4 ½ to 9 years in prison following a negotiated plea agreement in front of Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Conrad.
On March 18, 2018, the Elizabethtown Police Department was dispatched to a home in the 100 block of North Locust Street for the report of an unresponsive man.
The man was later pronounced dead with cause of death determined to be heroin and fentanyl overdose by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
The Lancaster County Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant on February 28, 2019, at Halterman’s previous residence in the 200 block of West Main Street in Mount Joy. Detectives found 475 bags of heroin.
After an extensive investigation, Halterman was charged with drug delivery resulting in death and criminal use of a communication facility in March 2019.
Halterman also owes $4,649.74 in restitution and forfeited $2,660.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Fetterman prosecuted the case.
Detective Matthew Shuey filed charges.
