The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office will co-host a pair of trainings in September for businesses and faith-based organizations on how to minimize devastation from armed intruder incidents.

The DA’s Office and Pa South Central Task Force are presenting the Response to Armed Assailant trainings in two-hour sessions on Sept. 19 (for businesses) and Sept. 24 (for faith-based organizations).

The trainings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center, 101 Champ Boulevard, Manheim.

Staff and personnel from any Lancaster County-based business or FBO are welcome to attend the free sessions.

Our top priority is saving lives. We are offering these trainings to provide as many tools and as much information as possible in serving that mission.

“This is not being presented as a scare tactic; rather, these tragic incidents have unfortunately become a reality and everyone must be aware and take steps to be as prepared as possible,” District Attorney Craig Stedman said. “We believe these trainings can make people more likely to react - and not freeze and become vulnerable - should an intruder incident occur at their location.”

George Giangi, a nationally recognized security expert will be the lead presenter, helping attendees craft or improve response plans for their employees/congregation.

Giangi will apply what has been learned in prior armed intruder incidents across the country and how immediate reactions to an intruder can save lives.

Giangi will also offer potential changes and improvements for attendees to consider at their facilities.

The DA’s office reached out to Giangi while planning trainings in response to questions and concerns from local businesses and faith-based organizations.

Parish Resource Center is a co-host of the Sept. 24 session.
