The Lancaster County Drug Task Force (LCDTF) arrested a man in possession of nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine after a brief struggle with police officers at a Columbia residence in late February.
Frank Newcomer, 52 of the 500 block of Walnut St., Columbia, stands charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, two counts of aggravated assault to a law enforcement officer, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Drug Task Force began an investigation into Newcomer in July 2023 in relation to the sales of methamphetamine. Multiple controlled confidential informant and undercover buys were made using pre-recorded money from the LCDTF between July 2023 and February 2024.
On February 22, 2024, a search warrant was executed at the Walnut St. residence and Newcomer was arrested outside the back while brandishing a loaded firearm.
A second defendant was located in the home and arrested on an outstanding bench warrant from New Jersey and extradited for prosecution.
Investigators recovered 197.2 grams of methamphetamine, 15 strips of Suboxone tabs, 13 Lorcaserin pills, $764 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun through the search warrant.
Newcomer’s bail was set at $75,000 cash by Magisterial District Judge Miles Bixler following his arraignment Feb. 22, 2022. Newcomer’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:45 a.m.
