City man pleads guilty to intentionally hitting juvenile on electric bike with car

A Lancaster city man pleaded guilty to intentionally swerving into and striking a juvenile riding an electric bike with his car.

Jonathan Seth, of the 100 block of Ruby Street, pleaded guilty Sept. 11 before Judge Dennis Reinaker to two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of accidents involving death or personal injury, one count of recklessly endangering another person and a single summary driving offense. Reinaker will sentence Seth at the conclusion of a pre-sentence investigation.

Seth, 27, swerved into and struck the victim with his car in the first block of South Marshall Street the evening of May 19. Seth, who was driving on a suspended driver’s license, did not stop to help the victim after hitting him.

The victim, who was riding an electric bike at the time, suffered facial and skull fractures, a small brain bleed, a concussion, a broken wrist and vision problems as a result of being struck by Seth.

Surveillance footage from Lancaster Safety Coalition cameras and local businesses showed vehicle later traced back to Seth swerving into the victim, striking him and then fleeing.

When interviewed by police, Seth admitting to driving into the victim on purpose.

Assistant District Attorney Daniel Lingousky prosecuted the case.

Lancaster City Bureau of Police Sgt. Shawn Gunnet filed the charges.
