The former owner of a Lancaster city bar and two of his co-defendants were sentenced Monday to state prison for brutally beating a man on Christmas morning 2015.

Anthony Maglietta, 45, former owner of Molly’s Pub on East Chestnut Street, and three former employees were convicted at trial of aggravated assault and conspiracy. A fifth man pleaded guilty to robbery.

Maglietta also was convicted of tampering with evidence for attempting to conceal contents of the bar’s surveillance recordings of the beating, which jurors watched at trial.

On Monday, Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn ordered the following sentences:

- Maglietta will serve 5½ to 11 years;

- Joshua R. Ellis, 34, will serve 5 to 10 years;

- Alexander Rodriguez-Cruz, 27, will serve 4 ½ to 10 years.

First Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Larsen described the group as a pack of wolves that acted in concert to inflict serious bodily injury on the victim, who was assaulted for an extended period of time in three separate assaults.

The victim’s mother, who spoke in court, said the men didn’t succeed in killing her son, but they essentially killed him on the inside.

The 30-year-old victim was punched and kicked until he was unconscious.

Raymond Lee, 40, and Francisco Camacho, 30, will be sentenced Thursday for their roles.

Lancaster city police Sgt. Michael Gerace filed charges.
