The Chambersburg Police Department became aware of several posts recently through local Facebook groups reporting that a male named Shawn Gilbert was reportedly missing from Eastern PA, but he was last seen in Chambersburg.  This information was not reported to the Chambersburg Police Department nor did another agency contact CPD to request assistance with a possible missing person investigation.  On 07/09/2026, the CPD Criminal Investigation Division contacted family members to confirm if a missing person report was made and to obtain additional facts and circumstances regarding Mr. Gilbert's whereabouts.  Gilbert's last known location at that time, was reportedly at the Sheetz on Monticello Ct.  

Approximately three hours into the investigation, representatives from the Criminal Investigation Division successfully located Mr. Gilbert and determined that he is safe.
