Since many residents and visitors of Lower Chichester Twp are not aware of many of the Twp Ordinances, we will take a moment every week to cover one;

Today, we will cover a parking ordinance that refers to commercial vehicles and their ability to be parked in the Twp as well as limitations on times.

First, to address this section, we must first understand the definition of a Commercial Vehicle as set forth in the Lower Chichester Township Ordinances.

"Commercial vehicle - Any vehicle, trailer or similar device, whether or not motor propelled, which carries goods, products and supplies of any description, normally delivered to or sold by any business or commercial enterprise. Commercial vehicle includes any motor vehicle which is used in a trade or business or which has advertised on the body of such vehicle a trade or business name.

With that defined, the sections regarding the parking of Commercial Vehicles in the Twp read as follows;

"450.03 PARKING ON CERTAIN STREETS PROHIBITED.
(a) In order to prevent a traffic hazard from existing or developing, no commercial vehicle in excess of one ton shall be permitted to park on the streets of the Township of Lower Chichester.

(b) No person shall park any truck, truck-tractor, truck-trailer and/or tractor-trailer, as defined in the Vehicle Code, on Ormond Street between Market Street and Penn Street.

As well as...

"460.12 PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES PROHIBITED DURING CERTAIN TIMES IN BUSINESS DISTRICTS.
No person shall park any bus, commercial vehicle, house trailer, motor home, recreational trailer, trailer, truck, truck camper, truck tractor or house van on any street in any area of the Township in GI, GC and LI Districts, as defined by the Zoning Code of Lower Chichester Township between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day.

The penalty for said violations will be $15.00. If unpaid, said violation will be escalated to a traffic citation and will accrue additional costs fees and charges.
