The Swatara Township Police Department participated in last week’s Over the Edge Fundraiser, which was hosted by the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Capital Region Organization.  Lt. Thomas Stauffer, K-9 Officer Scott Gibson, Officer Anderson and Officer Gartland all participated by repelling down the Market Square Building in Harrisburg City.  The Swatara Township Police Department also participates in the Organization’s Bigs in Blue program, which pairs officers up with youth from the community in order to provide a positive role model to those who are experience some type of hardship within their family.  The Swatara Township Police Department donated $1150.00 toward the fundraiser through a No Shave November initiative where officers had to pay to participate.  We are proud to report that all four of our officers made it down the 18 story building safely!  We would also like to thank those businesses who also donated to Big Brothers, Big Sisters to help support and sponsor law enforcement agencies who sent their officers Over the Edge.
