6/4/2025:
The Swatara Township Police Department would like to remind the public that Paul Miller's Law takes effect on June 5, 2025. The Swatara Township Police Department will immediately begin to enforce this law. The new law prohibits Pennsylvania drivers from operating a vehicle while using a hand-held device, even while stopped in traffic. As of June 5, 2025, while you're driving, your hand-held device can only be used to communicate with emergency services to prevent injury to persons and/or property. Utilizing your device through hands-free technology to make phone calls, manage GPS, and listen to music is allowable.
Please commit to driving safely and avoiding distractions. The phone call can wait. The text message can wait. Your life and the lives of others is much more important.
