On Wednesday evening February 09, 2022, Director Reider and the Swatara Township Board of Commissioners awarded Officer Pat Walsh with a Letter of Commendation for an incident that occurred on November 05, 2021.  On that day, Officer Walsh was dispatched a call for an individual who was making threatening messages and statements to a family member, saying that they wanted to die and were armed with a sword.  Officer Walsh was able to make contact with this subject over the phone at which time they stated that Police would have to kill them.  

Officer Walsh was able to locate this individual as they were driving in a vehicle.  Officer Walsh attempted to stop the subject, however they ignored these efforts.  During this time Officer Walsh seized on an opportunity to safely box the vehicle in at a traffic light and took the individual into custody without incident.  The subject was referred to medical professionals for treatment.  

Officer Walsh's actions reflected great credit upon himself, the Swatara Township Police Department and were in the highest traditions of American Law Enforcement.
