The 9th Annual Swatara Township Citizens Police Academy concluded last night. This year's class size included 13 community members from not only Swatara Township but several other central PA communities. The Citizens Police Academy is a 10 week program which meets once a week on Monday evenings. Each class features a different topic in law enforcement to include but not limited to Patrol Operations, Police Forensics, Traffic Accident Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Drug Investigations, Criminal Investigations and Police K-9. We would like to thank everyone who came out to this year's program and for your continued support of our police department. The Citizens Police Academy was designed to provide an inside look into the field of law enforcement. This serves not only as a recruitment tool for municipal policing but more importantly promotes positive relationships and trust between the community and our officers. The Citizens Police Academy is a great program for not only those who are interested in a career in law enforcement, but also for anyone who simply wants to learn more about what the police do behind the scenes. At the end of the program, all cadets are offered the opportunity to come back to our police department for a ride along with one of our patrol officers. If you are interested in participating in next year's program look for our application in late December 2022.
