On 9/21/26 at approximately 1659 hours, two Swatara Township Police Officers were directing traffic at the scene of a serious traffic collision in the area of Paxton Street and Mushroom Hill Road when a driver disregarded their commands and drove around them, nearly striking both of them. Another Officer caught up with the vehicle, and the driver, Matthew Nehring of Camp Hill, was arrested.
Matthew Nehring was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault (F1), two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2), and four summary offenses for his actions. He was arraigned at Dauphin County Night Court where he was remanded to Dauphin County Prison after he was unable to post bail. (Photo displayed)
Also on 9/21/26 at approximately 1614 hours, while directing traffic for the same traffic collision investigation in the area of the ramp from Paxton Street to Penhar Drive, two Fire Police personnel were assaulted by Yolanda Cardona-Cintron of Harrisburg when she was told she was unable to turn opposite of how she was being directed to turn. Cardona-Cintron ultimately fled the scene prior to Police arrival, however a warrant is being obtained for her arrest. She too is being charged with Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and three summary offenses. (No photo available)
Please keep in mind the danger involved with not following the lawful orders given by those directing traffic. We want to see everyone get to their destination safely, and actions like this compromise that safety for everyone, especially all of the emergency workers out dealing with the primary event taking place at the time. Please be patient, courteous, and compliant in these situations.
