Harrisburg, PA – Susquehanna Township today announced joint seat belt and impaired driving enforcement activities as part of the National “Click It or Ticket” Seat Belt Enforcement Mobilization. The joint mobilization will be conducted November 10 through November 30 on the roadways in Susquehanna Township.
During these joint enforcement operations, Susquehanna Township officers will be conducting high-visibility seat belt and impaired driving enforcement simultaneously.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of all passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in 2023 were not wearing seat belts. Law enforcement agencies across the country are stepping up enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with seat belt laws for both drivers and passengers — day and night. Unbelted and impaired driving crashes are shown to be significant contributors to traffic injuries and deaths, especially during nighttime hours.
The Susquehanna Township Police Department encourages all motorists to do their part:
· Always wear your seat belt every trip, every time.
· Make sure children are properly secured in the right car seat for their age and size.
· Encourage your friends and loved ones to buckle up before starting the car.
