Susquehanna Township urges residents and visitors to prepare for the potential of flooding from the remnants of Hurricane IDA reaching our area.
A flood watch means flooding could happen, and you should:
A flood warning means there is flooding:
DURING A FLOOD: Monitor weather information on your television and radio. Don't drive unless you have too. If you do drive use caution, avoid areas where roads have been closed. NEVER drive through standing water or flooded roadways. You can lose control of your vehicle in only a few inches of water. Your vehicle can be swept away in less than 2 feet of water. Don't drive around barricades (it’s unsafe and illegal), turn around. If your car stalls in water, abandon it if safe to do so. If water rises around your car, leave it immediately and get to higher ground if safe to do so. Never try to walk or swim through fast-moving water and don't let children play around high water or creeks and streams. Six inches of fast-moving water can knock down and carry away an adult.
