The Steelton Borough Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Parking Enforcement Officer. Applications are available at the Municipal Building in the Police Station at 123 North Front Street. Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 17. The job description is as follows:
Definition:
This is a civilian uniformed position supportive of police services. Accountable to and reports directly to the Chief of Police.
Equipment/Job Location:
Work is performed at the Steelton Borough Municipal Building and throughout the Borough of Steelton. Work involves the use of a computerized Ticket-Writer, a motor vehicle, and a portable radio. The employee is subject to dirt, dust, noise, fumes, odors, and adverse climatic conditions. Duties are typically performed on weekdays Monday through Thursday starting at 7:00 A.M. and completing at 3:00 P.M.
Essential Functions:
Work involves but is not limited to the following: issues parking tickets and/or traffic citations Borough-wide. Testifies at court proceedings regarding issuance of tickets and/or citations. Observes and reports problems relative to non-compliance in No Parking zones and related matters. Posts and removes temporary parking restrictions as directed. Position requires extensive walking, standing, and/or other continuous physical activity. Maintains regular, punctual, and predictable attendance. Reports to work and remains productive, including not being under the influence or impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public. Completes all assignments in an efficient, consistent, and timely manner.
Non-Essential Functions:
Performs other reasonably related duties in equal or lower job classifications as assigned by supervisory personnel. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Compensation:
The Borough is offering an hourly wage of $17/hour and does not include a benefits package.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Class C
