Mayor Ciera Dent is pleased to announce the appointment of Shawki Lacey as Interim Police Chief for the Borough of Steelton, effective immediately. Chief Lacey will oversee day-to-day operations and provide leadership throughout the transition period as the borough prepares for the retirement of current Police Chief Bill Shaub on December 2, 2025, after 30 years of service.
Chief Lacey will officially assume the role of Police Chief on December 1, 2025.
Chief Lacey brings to Steelton a distinguished record of service, with extensive experience in law enforcement leadership, community policing, and organizational development. His career is marked by a strong commitment to accountability, officer support, and strengthening relationships between police departments and the communities they serve.
“I am confident in Chief Lacey’s ability to lead our department with integrity, professionalism, and a deep respect for the people of Steelton,” said Mayor Dent. “His experience in navigating transitions and fostering collaborative, community-focused policing will be invaluable during this period of change.”
