The Steelton Borough Police Department is encouraging all residents to remain vigilant and take simple steps to protect their property following several recent thefts from motor vehicles within the borough.
Thefts from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity. In many cases, offenders target vehicles left unlocked, allowing them to quickly access valuables without causing damage. Fortunately, these incidents are among the easiest crimes to help prevent.
The attached surveillance video captures suspects committing a theft from a motor vehicle in the 300 block of Locust Street. This incident serves as a reminder that offenders actively seek out unsecured vehicles and will often move from vehicle to vehicle looking for easy opportunities.
