August 25, 2026 — At approximately 3:03 a.m., the Steelton Borough Police officers encountered a group of juveniles riding bicycles in the area of North 2nd and Pine Streets.
An officer initially observed three juveniles traveling south on North 2nd Street. Upon seeing police, the juveniles abandoned their bicycles and fled on foot. As officers investigated, an additional group of juveniles riding bicycles approached the area and was stopped.
The juveniles subsequently returned, and officers identified all eight juveniles involved. Steelton Police had previously encountered several of the juveniles for curfew violations. Officers obtained parent or guardian information and made contact with the responsible adults.
The incident serves as an important reminder to parents and guardians regarding the Borough's juvenile curfew regulations. Juveniles found outside during restricted hours are subject to enforcement action, particularly in cases involving repeated violations.
The Steelton Borough Police Department will continue proactive patrols during overnight hours with an emphasis on juvenile safety, crime prevention, and reducing circumstances that could place young people or the community at risk.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to know where their children are during late-night and early-morning hours and to reinforce the importance of complying with Borough curfew requirements.
