On 10-11-2020 at approximately 0511hrs Middletown Police Department was called to the 200 block of North Pine Street for a report of an active burglary. Upon arrival the officers spoke to the victim who stated they woke up to the sound of what ended up being glass smashed out of their bathroom window. Police learned that the suspect was a Dalton Varner who was one of their neighbors.
Middletown Police walked over to the neighbors house where as they could see him sitting in the apartment. Varner eventually came to the door and was taken into custody. He still had on the clothing that the victim stated he was wearing at the time of the burglary. Once taken into custody he was mirandized and then transported to the Middletown Police station.
After attempting to speak with Varner he was about to be transported to the Dauphin County Booking center for arraignment. The officers observed that Varner slipped his handcuffs from the rear to the front of his body when he was placed in the car. Officers then placed another type of transport belt on him and leg shackles. While doing so, Varner assaulted the officers by kicking them numerous times. Varner was eventually subdued and transported to the Dauphin County Booking Center for arraignment.
