On 12/27/2017 at approx. 0104hrs, an officer was flagged down by a tow truck driver in the area of Eisenhower Boulevard. The officer observed that there was a gray Subaru station wagon with front end damage sitting to the rear of the tow truck.
The tow truck driver walked up to the officer's driver's window and asked the officer to talk the driver. He also said the officer should "check" the driver (referring to the driver had been drinking).
The officer made contact with the driver.
The officer could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. The officer also observed that his eyes were extremely glassy and red.
The driver stated that when he looked down, he struck the median across from Turnpike Commission building.
The officer observed damage to the driver's side front and rear wheel. The officer also observed damage to front end on the driver's side.
During the course of the traffic stop, the officer conducted field coordination exercises, which the driver failed.
The driver was taken into custody for DUI.
