April 26, 2018- Commonwealth v. Melissa Kline: On April 26, 2018, Melissa Kline pled no contest before the Dauphin County Judge Deborah E. Curcillo to stealing tens of thousands of dollars from her employer, the Hershey Italian Lodge. While Kline disputes the total amount taken, Senior Deputy District Attorney Jack Canavan told the court that a retired CFO of Hershey Foods, who is an officer of the Italian Lodge, performed a detailed audit and estimated the amount to be in excess of $100,000. Kline was the office manager in charge of daily cash deposits and paying the monthly bills. She did not contest the charge the she took cash that was paid in for various activities, wrote checks to herself on the Italian Lodge account and, among other things, purposely failed to pay the monthly expenses. The investigation, led by Detective Matt Dotts of the Derry Township Police Department, revealed that the thefts occurred from 2013 to March 2016.
Kline is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25, 2018, before Judge Curcillo.
