Adam Homer pleaded guilty before Dauphin County Judge Richard A. Lewis today to the May 31, 2012, murder of Michael Snyder. At some time after 12:30 A.M., on May 31, 2012, Allan Snyder, Michael Snyder's brother, observed a man sneaking around his brother Michael’s camper. When he saw Adam Homer at the door of his brother’s camper, Allan Snyder called out to Adam Homer and told him to get away from the camper. There was a quick exchange of words between Allan Snyder and Adam Homer. Allan Snyder then warned Homer if he didn’t leave, Allan Snyder was going to shoot him. Allan Snyder then fired a warning shot into the air. After hearing the commotion outside his camper, Michael Snyder came out of his camper and confronted Adam Homer. Homer then shot Michael Snyder in the chest killing him. Homer then exchanged gunfire with Allan Snyder. During the exchange of gunfire with Allan Snyder, Homer seriously wounded Allan Snyder.
Homer, pleaded guilty to third degree murder for killing Michael Snyder and aggravated assault for wounding Allan Snyder. He was sentenced pursuant to a plea agreement to 20 years to 40 years in the state prison. Chief Deputy District Attorney Seán M. McCormack described today's guilty as "closure for Allan Snyder". McCormack stated that, "Allan Snyder was not only a victim of Adam Homer's crimes but he also is grieving the loss of his brother." Allan Snyder, who was present in court for Homer's guilty plea, agreed to the plea agreement and he was satisfied with the outcome of the case. McCormack credited Lower Swatara Detective Robert Appleby, and Dauphin County Detectives Todd Johnson and Dennis Woodring, for their exhaustive investigative efforts in this case. "They were working on this case right up until this morning. Without their hard work Adam Homer would never have pleaded guilty".
