The Swatara Township Police Department and Fire Department are teaming up to host a Labor Day Fireworks Celebration event, presented by the Lawnton American Legion Post 998!
WHEN: Saturday 9/2/23 - Food Trucks from 6:30pm until 8:30pm - Fireworks start at 9:00pm
WHERE: Bishop Park (formally Bishop Farm) located at 1425 Highland Street Harrisburg, PA 17111
WHO: Open to the general public
COST: FREE event to attend - food from food trucks is regularly priced
WHAT TO BRING: The viewing area for the fireworks is spread across several acres of land. Attendees can view the fireworks from inside/outside their vehicle from most parking spaces. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and watch the fireworks from the large designated viewing area. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own lawn games such as horse shoes, corn hole, ladder toss, frisbee etc. (please no baseballs or softballs). People in attendance can bring their own food and drink (NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED) OR purchase food and drinks/snacks from one of the four food stands that will be on site (please see below for food stand options). NO ATM'S will be available on site. There are portable toilets on site for attendees to use.
PARKING: Two large parking areas have been designated in the field for this event. ALL PARKING IN THE FIELD MUST BE ACCESSED OFF OF HIGHLAND STREET COMING WESTBOUND FROM EISENHOWER BOULEVARD. HIGHLAND STREET AT 2ND STREET WILL BE CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FROM 5PM UNTIL 10PM. NO VEHICLES WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER THE FIELD AFTER 8:55PM. Swatara Police Officers will be assisting attendees with parking their vehicles. A designated handicap parking area will be available (please let one of our officers aware of your handicap parking preference upon arrival onto the property, plate or placard required). Guests can also park along public roadways just west of the park and walk to the north field at Bishop Park. The Neidig Memorial Methodist Church located at 1251 Highland Street is allowing the general public to utilize their parking lot for this event only.
