Aggressive Driving:
Every year, thousands of innocent people are killed due to individuals who drive aggressively. Hundreds of Thousands of crashes are caused annually due to aggressive driving.
What is it?
Aggressive Driving includes Speeding, Tailgating, Running Redlights, Running Stop Signs, Driving recklessly/carelessly, and having a general disregard for the safety of other motorists, pedestrians, or bystandars -- All major factors in crashes that occur everyday-- And they are 100% avoidable.
DUI:
Drivers who drive impaired do more than put themselves at risk; they put everyone at risk. The D.U.I. rate for Pennsylvania is .08. If you feel that you have had too much to drink, do not drive. It is not worth risking your life, another innocent person's life, or losing your license. Call a friend or call a taxi cab - and doing so ensures that you are alive to see another day and your friends and family that care. Click-It-Or-Ticket - 2 Fines:
"Buckle Up - It's the Law" are the green signs seen all across the commonwealth. Seat belts save lives. Taking an extra three seconds to buckle your safety belt could do more than buckle your belt - it could save your life in a crash. If you are stopped for another traffic violation and do not have your seat belt on, you are subjected to receiving two fines - one fine for the traffic violation, and another for not wearing your seat belt.
What do we Do?
North Middleton Township Police Officers actively are involved in aggressive driving patrol. "Smooth Operator" is an Aggressive Driving Campaign that teams up with State Police Troopers, Municipal Police Officers, and PennDot. This program focuses specifically on aggressive driving behavior and places officers and troopers in unconventional vehicles and means of transportation to aggressively target hot spots. An increase in Traffic Enforcement Patrol acts as a deterrance which in turn decreased the number of accidents and traffic fatalities seen within the township.
What can you do?
If you are aware of specific areas that are subjected to aggressive driving, notify your local law enforcement agency. Include the type of aggressive driving along with the days it likely occurs and approximately times. We will make every effort to step up patrols in those targeted areas.
