The New Cumberland Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Kim for his outstanding service, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to our community.
Officer Kim brings a remarkable combination of life experience, leadership, and expertise to the department. He is a graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, has been married for over 30 years, and is the proud father of six children.
Beyond policing, Officer Kim is a 7th Degree Grand Master Instructor in Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do, with more than 20 years of experience teaching martial arts. His accomplishments include multiple national and international titles, including World Cup Champion, U.S. Open Champion, U.S. Martial Arts Champion, and Arnold Schwarzenegger Martial Arts Champion. He has also served as an Adjunct Instructor at the HACC Police Academy since 2015 and is an MPOETC-certified instructor in Defensive Tactics, Use of Force, Firearms Instructor, and other law enforcement disciplines, along with numerous FLETC and SAFARILAND instructor certifications.
In 2025, Officer Kim exemplified leadership and initiative by serving as a Field Training Officer, joining the Special Response Team (SRT), and consistently demonstrating proactive policing. He is among the most productive officers in the New Cumberland Police Department.
Officer Kim’s compassion is just as notable as his productivity. This year, he received two Certificates of Commendation for his calm and empathetic response to incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring their safety and access to critical care.
Officer Kim’s courage, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him an exemplary representative of the New Cumberland Police Department. We extend our deepest gratitude and congratulations on this well-deserved honor.
