🚨 SNOW EMERGENCY & WINTER STORM SAFETY ADVISORY 🚨
Effective January 24, 2026 at 6:00 PM, a Snow Emergency has been declared and is expected to have a significant impact on our community.
Due to the potential for severe winter weather and possible power outages, the New Cumberland Police Department encourages residents to prepare in advance and ensure they have the following essential items available:
Power & Lighting
Flashlights or battery-powered lanterns
Extra batteries
Fully charged cell phones and backup power banks
Food & Water
Bottled water (minimum one gallon per person per day)
Non-perishable food items
Manual can opener
Heat & Warmth
Extra blankets, sleeping bags, or heavy bedding
Warm clothing, including hats, gloves, and layered attire
Medical & Personal Needs
Prescription medications (minimum 3–5 day supply)
First aid kit
Necessary personal hygiene items
Information & Safety
Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
Carbon monoxide detectors with fresh batteries
Vehicle & Travel Safety
Full tank of fuel
Ice scraper and snow brush
Emergency supplies kept in vehicles
Pet Care
Adequate food, water, and medications for pets
Do not use generators, grills, or propane heaters indoors or in garages
Use space heaters with caution and keep them away from flammable materials
Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors when it is safe to do so
Residents are urged to limit travel, remain indoors if possible, and continue to monitor official updates for additional information.
