THREE MAJOR VEHICLE CRIME INVESTIGATIONS RESULT IN CHARGES AND ACTIVE ARREST WARRANT
The New Cumberland Police Department has concluded three separate investigations involving numerous vehicle thefts and thefts from unlocked vehicles that occurred throughout the Borough during late June and early July 2026.
Following an extensive investigation into approximately 25 overnight vehicle entries and thefts, the criminal investigator filed charges against Jayden Munoz.
The investigation began after numerous reports of unlocked vehicles being entered between approximately 2:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Surveillance footage, witness statements, forensic evidence, recovered stolen property, and investigative interviews identified Munoz as the individual responsible for the crime spree.
During the investigation, officers recovered property belonging to multiple victims, including wallets, identification, financial cards, and other personal items. A stolen Glock 43X handgun taken during the incidents has not been recovered.
On July 1, 2026, Munoz admitted to the criminal investigator that he entered vehicles during the overnight crime spree and acknowledged disposing of stolen property in neighborhood trash containers. He denied possessing the stolen firearm.
Charges approved by the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office include:
Jayden Munoz currently has an active arrest warrant.

A second investigation into overnight vehicle thefts and thefts from unlocked vehicles resulted in charges being filed against four juveniles.
The investigation involved the theft of two vehicles, multiple thefts from unlocked vehicles, surveillance footage, witness statements, forensic evidence, electronic monitoring records, and interviews.
One of the stolen vehicles was driven recklessly through New Cumberland Borough Park before being significantly damaged and abandoned.
The criminal investigator obtained admissions regarding participation in the offenses, resulting in charges including:
Because the defendants are juveniles, their identities will not be released.
A third investigation into a series of overnight vehicle entries and the theft of a motor vehicle resulted in additional juvenile charges.
Investigators linked multiple incidents occurring throughout New Cumberland Borough after a Kia Optima was stolen when its key fob was left inside the unlocked vehicle. Surveillance footage captured suspects entering numerous unlocked vehicles before the stolen Kia was driven throughout the Borough and later into Harrisburg.
The investigation included surveillance footage from several locations, witness statements, license plate reader data, and interviews. A juvenile admitted participating in the overnight "car hopping" incidents and acknowledged riding in and operating the stolen Kia after it had been taken. Additional surveillance confirmed the juveniles repeatedly operating the stolen vehicle.
A separately stolen vehicle from Penbrook Borough was also discovered during the investigation and the suspect was identified.
Charges filed include:
Because this case involves juveniles, their identities will not be released.
These investigations demonstrate the continued commitment of the New Cumberland Police Department to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for crimes affecting our community.
We continue to remind residents to:
Simple preventative measures remain one of the most effective ways to reduce vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles.
