Please take a look at the PA micro mobility fact sheet provided by PENNDOT. Some of the modes of transportation are not legally allowed on roadways and/or sidewalks as defined by section 102 of the vehicle code. Some are required to be inspected, registered, insured, and in some cases there is no mechanism to complete this. In those cases they would only be allowed to be used on private property. There are age restrictions for some as well. The police department encourages children and adults to have fun, but also must enforce the laws as they are written for the safety of everyone. While the department will attempt to educate the public, understand citations can be issued in some instances.
Common confusion results regarding the 50 CC threshold which generally governs the type of registration and driver's license required. If it is below 50 CCs, it does not automatically mean it can be ridden on the roadway or public property.
