On January 4th, 2026, at approximately 8:41 pm, the police department was contacted by hospital employees from UPMC West Shore advising they had a patient there who arrived for treatment after being struck by a vehicle. Officers went to the hospital to speak with the victim. The victim advised they were walking eastbound in the 100 block of West Portland Street when they were struck. They stated they did not see the vehicle coming and after being struck they could not find their cell phone. They continued walking home and was transported to the hospital by a family member. Officers checked the area and located the hat the victim was wearing at the time of the crash. The victim sustained several injuries to their face. Investigation into the crash is still ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the police department.
