On August 17th, 2026, at approximately 5:02 pm, the police department was contacted by the owner of a rental property located in the 1st block of South Washington Street. They advised there was a video on TikTok advising they were renting their property for $1200 a month and with a $400 deposit. The victim advised this is not their video and knows the advertisement is a scam. They reported the information to TikTok, but wanted the police department to be aware in case anyone was out money due to the theft by deception attempt. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the police department.
